Tibetan Colloquial Disclaimer

Disclaimer

Those are my personal distilled notes on the great work done on colloquial Tibetan by Franziska Oertle and the SINI Sarnath International Nyingma Institute. They are not revised by teachers and might confuse you unless you are familiarized with the course material. I recommend you to not use these notes independently unless you have been exposed to the material before.

With ལོད་ you can ask how much X (adjective) something is.
It’s for questions (direct and indirect), not for expression like How tasty these momos are! (for that you would say མོག་མོག་དེ་ཚོ་ཞིམ་པ་ལ། or མོག་མོག་དེ་ཚོ་གང་འདྲས་ཞིམ་པོ་འདུག)
No question particles if using ལོད་ but Tibetans still use them.
Can be paired with གང་འདྲས་ translating to How much [adjective] is [name] མོ་ཊ་འདི་ཡག་ལོད་གང་འདྲས་འདུག. But never say མོ་ཊ་ཡག་པོ་གང་འདྲས་འདུག

མདང་གསུང་ཆོས་ལ་མི་མང་ལོད་འདུག མི་མང་ཐག་ཆོད་འདུག How many people were at the teaching yesterday? Very many!
