Eloi Singla send me a WhatsApp with a very interesting observation about the future particle.
The future for a verb can be formed with རྒྱུ་ as in འགྲོ་རྒྱུ་ཡིན།
He says how now in spoken colloquial we might be using གི་ because it got distorted with time from རྒྱུ་ to གི་ when speaking fast.
རྒྱུ་ carries with it a sense of obligation.
He then compares a similar process that happened in Catalan language, where the future tense might get the conjugations from the verb “to have”:
| Conjugated Verb | Origin |
|---|---|
| cantaré cantaràs cantarà cantarem cantareu cantaran | cantar he cantar has cantar ha cantar heu cantar hem cantar han |
